Early Life and Career
Otho Holland Williams was born in Prince George's County, Maryland, on March 10, 1749. He was the son of Colonel Thomas Williams, a wealthy planter and merchant, and his wife, Sarah Holland. Williams received a good education, and at the age of 16, he joined the Continental Army as a lieutenant.
Williams served with distinction in the Revolutionary War. He fought in several major battles, including the Battle of Saratoga and the Battle of Yorktown. He was also instrumental in the capture of Fort Ticonderoga in 1775.
War of 1812
After the Revolutionary War, Williams retired from the Army and returned to Maryland. He served in the state legislature and was a delegate to the Continental Congress. In 1812, when the War of 1812 broke out, Williams was appointed a brigadier general in the United States Army.
Williams commanded the American forces at the Battle of Queenston Heights in 1812. He was mortally wounded in the battle and died a few days later. He was 63 years old.

Otho Holland Williams was a brave and dedicated officer who served his country with distinction. He is remembered as one of the most important figures in the Revolutionary War and the War of 1812.
