This book examines the history of Iran from the late 19th century to the mid-20th century, a period of profound change and upheaval. The authors offer a fresh perspective on this period, drawing on new research and methodologies to challenge traditional interpretations of Iran's history.

The book begins with a discussion of the Constitutional Revolution of 1906, which saw the establishment of Iran's first parliament. The authors argue that the revolution was not simply a response to foreign imperialism, but also a product of internal social and economic changes. They also examine the role of religion in the revolution, and the ways in which it shaped the development of Iranian politics.

The book then turns to the period of the Pahlavi dynasty, which ruled Iran from 1925 to 1979. The authors argue that the Pahlavi regime was not simply a dictatorship, but a complex and evolving political system. They also examine the role of the military in Iranian politics, and the ways in which it shaped the country's foreign policy.

The book concludes with a discussion of the White Revolution, a series of reforms initiated by the Shah of Iran in the 1960s. The authors argue that the White Revolution was not simply a top-down modernization project, but also a response to the social and economic changes that were taking place in Iran at the time. They also examine the role of the United States in the White Revolution, and the ways in which it shaped the country's future.

This book is a major contribution to the study of Iranian history. It offers a fresh perspective on a period of profound change and upheaval, and it challenges traditional interpretations of Iran's history. The authors draw on new research and methodologies to provide a nuanced and comprehensive analysis of Iran's past.
